I am one of two Technology Innovation Managers that work Sheffield Hallam University, based between the Research and Innovation Office at the Science Park (City Campus) and the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) in Attercliffe. I liaise with academics, companies and clinicians in the Sheffield region to translate medical technologies through to commercial propositions.
Alongside this, I am a Sports Engineer Research Fellow specialising in 3D body measurement in the Centre of Sports Engineering Research (CSER) within the AWRC, and am thereby embedded within the research community and day to day research activities, providing me with a daily insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by academics.
- Human factors (anthropometry & biomechanics)
- Health & sport innovation
- Research ethics
- Data processing and management
The data management and processing of technologies – although not a single device or research area, I find it very interesting to understand how and why devices, and thus companies, are using data – which gets really juicy when looking into medical technologies.
