I am the Innovation Development Officer for Translate. My role is to develop innovation capability in the Leeds and Sheffield City Region.
Though the delivery of training courses, secondments and early stage innovation support to academics and business development teams working at Translate partner universities, I help enable medtech researchers in the Leeds and Sheffield City Regions to innovate in a smarter and more efficient way leading to the development of research ideas into a product with the potential for commercialisation.
Role & responsibilities

I run a secondment scheme that aims to progress technologies or develop capability in medtech researchers.
I organise facilitated innovation workshops that are driven by a real clinical need. I also support academics with early stage innovation, focusing mainly on supporting research led funding applications.
What can I help you with?
- Secondment opportunities (both as a host or as a secondee)
- Training and development opportunities
- Early stage innovation support including support with research led funding applications
I’m interested in medical technology solutions can that be implemented in low income settings. I believe in access to quality healthcare for all and think that medical technologies will have a very important part to play in this.
The use of digital health will be essential in reducing the global burdens of disease, as already seen by the use of mobile apps as a diagnostic tool in the global south.
