Translate MedTech – User-Centred Design for Medical Technologies

This course will  be delivered by the trainers virtually as two 3-hour sessions which will take place on Thursday 25 March 2021 (9:30am – 12:30pm) and Thursday 1 April 2021 (9:30am – 12:30pm). Click the link below to register your place for the course.

This course, delivered as two 3-hour sessions across two separate days, is an introduction to user-centred design principles, which consider the user at each stage in designing and developing a medical technology. The course will give you the opportunity for hands-on experience of tools that can be used to embed user-centred design thinking into the development of a medical technology. Incorporating user-centred design principles into the development of your medical technology can greatly assist with the later stage implementation, adoption and diffusion of it within the NHS.

Participants will be working in groups, given tools and guided through activities to design a solution.

Open to academics, researchers, clinicians and industry representatives, by attending the course you will:

  • Know why it is important to understand your users and co-design with them when developing a medical technology
  • Understand how to go about incorporating user-centred design into a development process
  • Be armed with practical hints, tips and tools that you will be able to use in the future
